Gornji Brgat
Villa Sunrise is located in the charming rural village of Gornji Brgat, only 20 minutes from the airport, in the heart of the Dubrovnik Riviera. It’s an ideal place to explore the many fascinating towns and villages this region of Croatia is proud to offer.
Gornji Brgat is nestled in the hills with a view to the sea down the valley, with a singletrack lane exiting the village from which there is a fantastic vantage point high above the walled city and ancient harbour of Dubrovnik. The beautiful coastline is dotted with bays, beaches, steep cliffs and numerous forested islands and is steeped in history.
The village is a five minute drive from a good variety of shops for your day to day to needs, with many selling local produce such as cheese, salamis and wine.
The magical city of Dubrovnik is only 15 minutes away with its enchanting cobbled streets and medieval "Stradun" famous for the Fountain of Onofrio. A stroll down Stradun is not to be missed with its terraced cafes and historical buildings such as St. Saviour's Church and Franjevacki Samostan (Franciscan monastery) with it's Monastery Museum.
The nearest beaches are located within a five minute drive from the villa, situated in the charming village of Mlini. These are well sheltered sand and shingle beaches, and are close to many small bars and restaurants.

Southern Dalmatia
Dubrovnik, the "Pearl of the Adriatic", is recognised as being the most beautiful city on the Adriatic, whilst offshore lie wonderful islands such as Mljet with its monastery and lakes.
Dubrovnik tends to dominate everyone's visits due to it's magnificent medieval walled city, but Southern Dalmatia offers plenty more.
The main town on the island of Korcula, with it's marmalade-hued roofs and spires, is a smaller version of Dubrovnik, whilst a short drive south lies the wonderful arboretum and botanical gardens at Trsteno, and the peaceful resort of Slano.
Close by in the north is Cavtat, which enjoys a beautiful, palm tree fringed riveira type setting with a marvellous café culture around the stunning mountain flanked bay.
Hvar Island is known for its fields of lavender and rosemary, so it’s sometimes called The Lavender Island. The vineyards and orchards of olive and orange trees overflow with ripe fruit in September and October. The clear, cobalt-blue sea contrasts magnificently with the ancient island towns. Hvar Island is also known as the sunniest island in the Adriatic!

Walled City of Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik, a World Heritage site, with the old walled city placed atop limestone cliffs, is bordered on three sides by the crystal clear azure waters of the Adriatic. The fortifications are perfectly preserved: a stroll along the dizzyingly high walls, overlooking the orange-hued rooftops of the city, are a must at sunset with the sun waving goodbye over the Adriatic.
Inside the walls lies a magnificent city with ancient buildings and cobbled streets, free of cars. There are many cafes and bars which are splendid hang-outs at night offering café-culture and al-fresco dining.

Cuisine
A Mediterranean diet prevails in Dubrovnik, with delicious fish and shellfish dishes cooked in oil and simple herbs widely available. Seafood risotto, shrimps and octopus followed by fresh line fish are dishes often found on local menus.
Whilst not cheap, because of the excellent climate for the vines, Croatian wine is a surprisingly good tipple as well.
We will be pleased to arrange for a chef to cook some local specialities during your stay, or provide catering for a wedding or special celebration.
